San Elijo Campus
Campus Today
The San Elijo Campus is situated on a 42 acre site facing the San Elijo Lagoon in Cardiff and is located 17 miles south of the Oceanside Campus. A considerable portion of the campus has been preserved in its natural state through permanent open-space easements and deed restrictions.
The campus and serves approximately 4,000 students who adore the relaxed, outdoorsy atmosphere on this campus, but express the lack of a clear ‘campus heart’.

Development History
The San Elijo Campus opened in the 1980s with six buildings constructed on the sloping hillside with a large parking area at the front. Over the years additional facilities have been added, with the most recent addition of the Student Services Building (1100).
Today, most all of the original buildings have been renovated to address program needs and to improve building systems for operational efficiency. The exception is Building 800, that still remains and is identified as “in need of attention.
Facilities Future Plan
Aligning with the 4 Future Lenses that inform a set of Facilities Guiding Principles, this plan points MiraCosta College towards an Equitable, Collaborative, Adaptable, and Sustainable Future.

Future New Construction
University Center

A new Future Building is proposed for the San Elijo Campus to house a potential University Center or other collaborative spaces that act as a community hub.
The planning process took into consideration finding a new home for programs that are currently housed at TCI.
Future Reconstruction
Quad + Amphitheather
Reconstruction at the San Elijo Campus includes two site development projects.
The Quad is proposed following the removal of Building 800 to create a central “campus heart” and strengthen the “sense of community” on the San Elijo Campus. The development of this open space will create opportunities for outdoor activities, spaces to study and collaboration areas. This important improvement will enhance the San Elijo Campus experience and encourage students and employees to spend more time on campus.
The Amphitheater is proposed to be renovated to address deficiencies and enhance functionality for multiple uses. Leveraging the sloped setting, and the adjacent Building 200, the amphitheater is an ideal location for a variety of formal and informal uses on the San Elijo Campus.
